Siren lessons at Watersong (for Lara)

[bachjones]

 In less than two days Bach had finished the music and text of three different songs. Of course, it was annoying that he had to visit the lair of the beast to make it so, but it was better than the discomfort of not finding what you needed. 

He only wished that he had told Lara that he couldn't do more than one hour a week. Or one hour every two weeks. He wasn't looking forward to two hours of threats, offenses and rudeness, no matter how hot the woman was, how sweet the memory or the sex they had. 

"Time for class!", Bach yelled from the basement. "Ready when you are!"

"Plenty of times, with and without your snake business going on. You hit me once already."

[asharpertongue]

She makes an indignant noise. "I've never hit you!" The image of Michael standing behind him with the magical taser comes up in her mind. "Not actually hitting...with fists or anything. And the bite I gave you was consensual."

[bachjones]

"Not actually hitting with fists." The pizza lost all his taste, suddenly.

"Yeah, it doesn't count when you don't really touch the person, right?"

[asharpertongue]

"Bach..." She winced and put the pizza down, wiping her hands and turning to look at him, casual air forgotten and formality slipping back over her like a cloak. "I'm sorry. It should never have come to that. I regret using force of any kind and i'm prepared to make reparations, within reason."

[bachjones]

"No, no, it's fine. I'm just telling you that it's all about how you look at things."

He shoots her a grin, it's always easier to do so. "Within reason."

[asharpertongue]

She shakes her head because she knows he's covering a genuine grievance. "Bach...I mean it. I took a liberty with you that I shouldn't have and I should be held accountable."

[bachjones]

"Hmhm." He takes another slice. "What's this pizza called?"

[asharpertongue]

Lara frowns, jerked out of her contrition and she looks at the box. "It's called 'The Big Boy.'"

[bachjones]

"What?" He chuckles. "I would have expected something more Italian sounding."

[asharpertongue]

She looked at him for a long moment. He was letting her off the hook. Perhaps that was her chastisement.

She let her stiff posture relax and grinned. "Well Francesco likes to be as american as possible. Unfortunately he doesn't quite have a grasp on innuendo."

[bachjones]

"I could help him with that. I have a firm grasp on it. Do you know if he's hiring?"

[asharpertongue]

Laughing she picks up her slice and starts eating again. "I don't know he could handle your explanations."

[bachjones]

"Why would I have to explain it to him? I can just do his work for him and keep him blissfully unknowing."

[asharpertongue]

She shrugged. "If you think you can do that then sure. I'll ask him if you'd like."

[bachjones]

"Please. I never had an ordinary job before."

[asharpertongue]

Lara nods. "I can speak to him for you. He's a hard headed man though...he might want to put you through your paces before he hires you so I hope you're not adverse to hard work."

[bachjones]

"That depends on what he calls hard work. I can make hours."

[asharpertongue]

"Can you cook? I ask because he'll want to know if you're front of house or back in the kitchen material."

[bachjones]

"Cook? I'm not a g-" He looks at her. "I can't cook."

[asharpertongue]

She smiles and nods. "Neither can I. Strangely it's a siren trait. Hardly any of us can cook a decent meal. " She taps something into her phone. "I'll tell him."

[bachjones]

He covers his smirk behind the last slice. "Not even when it comes to boiling things?"

[asharpertongue]

"I have legitimately been to three house fires caused by attempting to make rice or pasta. I'm not even joking."

[bachjones]

".. so you always order in?"

[asharpertongue]

"I eat out a lot because I keep odd hours. I can make a salad though. It's just the actual cooking of things that might end in disaster."

[bachjones]

"Wow." He scratches his beard. "That's kind of what I do. Fruit salads. And make sure that other people cook for me."
